Understanding Best Ball Golf

In the Best Ball golf format, players form teams of two to four members and compete against other teams. During each hole, the team relies on the best score from one of its members. The objective is to have the lowest aggregate score for the entire round to win the tournament.

Playing Best Ball

In this format, each golfer plays their own ball for the duration of the round. However, after each hole, only the best score among the team members is counted as the team's score for that hole. Best Ball tournaments often incorporate NET scoring, where golfers' handicaps are factored in. This allows golfers to deduct strokes on a number of holes equivalent to their handicap, starting from the most challenging hole.

How to win

The team's overall score is the sum of the lowest scores achieved on each hole. The team with the smallest cumulative score is declared the winner.
