Meet River

In just three weeks, a rare blood cancer had taken such a strong hold on the six-month-old that the brain and spinal cord were the only parts of her body without tumours.

Complicating matters, River's immune system, while fighting the cancer, unintentionally became an additional challenge, progressively impacting her organs. Fortunately, the correct diagnosis and timely treatment were administered.

After spending 147 nights at The Royal Children's Hospital and completing a 20-week course of 60 high-dose chemotherapy sessions, River is now cancer-free.

Inspired by his daughter's resilience, Simon established the Reid Foundation, aiming to give back through initiatives like the annual Rivers Round Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner.

Reid Foundation

Motivated by his daughter River's recovery from Stage 4 Lymphoma and HLH, Simon was inspired to help other families facing challenging times, particularly those staying at Ronald McDonald House.

The support from the Ronald McDonald House community and donors made a significant impact on the Reid family, easing the burden during a challenging time. Grateful for the comfort, care, and compassion they received, the Reid Family recognises the lasting effect the Ronald McDonald House Charities had on their lives.

In establishing the Reid Foundation, Simon’s aim is to extend that support to others facing similar situations, fostering hope and community for families dealing with serious illnesses.

Rivers Round

The annual Rivers Round Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner take place at the beautiful Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club.

The day starts with an early lunch on the decking, leading into a memorable golf tournament that kicks off with a shotgun launch from the tees. After the rounds, players can relax with refreshing drinks in preparation for the gala dinner later in the evening.

The night offers a pleasant experience, including a well-paired three-course dinner with local wines, both live and silent auctions, a lively dance floor, and live entertainment.

Every donation made during the event will go towards supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities Vic/Tas, making each swing and step a meaningful contribution to a greater cause.
